Yep, good ride up n down dale today; cheers to pit crew Paul & Gav for the tube & air respectively. Kudos to the Garmin-Barracuda TTT too – that Red Arrows stylee peel-off was perfection!!
Good ride and good to go over the usual ground but in the reverse direction, TTTing it down Via Gella was fun and the cafe in Matlock was spot on. Well done Pelideli we should add that to the list of cycling friendly cafes.
peli deli top cafe stop, via gellia going down was harder than you think it would be, great to ride it with Matt & Ady, sorry about the punctures Dave.

+1 for the wind jacket fella – had mine about 2years now and can’t fault it. The Assos prob packs down smaller – I’ve got a blitzFeder gilet which folds nicely into itself (works well too).
Glad I could help;-)In reply to - Tony Meadows posted an update: I know as a club we are very pro Rapha but i am looking for a new jacket and have it narrowed down to 2: Assos luftschutz and Rapha wind jacket objective opinions please…. don’t try and sway me with the 20% discount angle either as they are a similar [...] · View -

Brother in law is from Christchurch and has a large family. his brother is in the business of moving houses, bricks and all….i can put you in touch with him and to see what he knows?
cheers
Amazing country. I’ve lived in Christchurch for a year, Wanaka for 6 months and a month in Nelson. A bit of a strange place for road cycling in my opinion. There just aren’t that many roads around so your route choice is fairly limited. Especially for enjoyable loops (we’re rather spoilt here in the UK for the number of small roads and the concentration of towns/villages) although the Port Hills and Banks Peninsula by Chch are really good cycling. It’s also one of the sketchiest places I’ve ridden for unobservant drivers.
MTB’ing on the other hand is really good with great biking to be had by all the towns and cities (Chch, Nelson, Wanaka, Queenstown) and some really good cross country routes.
Can give you more specifics if you want. If you’re out on Saturday then we can have a chat about it then.
Your right about crap drivers. I think its due to a 50mph speed limit and big distances. (ie boredom). The scenery is stunning, but as Ben says there seem to be few side roads. (A bit like a supersize version of the Scottish Highlands).
Cheers chaps – it’ll be Invercargill I’m heading to (can’t get much further South!) so just trying to garner info on Southland area for now. There’s a velodrome nearby that should be able to help too…
