Great weekend guys in Pitlochry – thought the ride was probably the best cycling event I’ve done in my short career – but remember, neigh, it’s not about the bike:

As there is a certain footy match I need to be back for 12 to have the pre-requisite alcohol to settle ones nerves…so, Mick and myself are setting off at 8am doing a ”lanes route” via Beeley Moor, Rowley, Stanton, Birchover, Winster, Elton, Alport, Youlgrave, Monyash etc etc – so, if you fancy an early one please respond and we can arrange a meet point on our way out. Have a good one. UTO!

Really great ride Ben and Jon – may be not the quantity of members partaking preferred, but certainly some quality at different levels. Cracking manageable pace with nearly 6,000ft of climbing predominantly on quiet country lanes and a diversity of weather. Although the chunky tyres and sight of Ben’s cross bike can be a little dispiriting as he glides up those gradients – and then goes off road! (But it was a short cut :0) ).
Stats and course here – one worth saving (Webmaster: could we consider a “route repository” on the new website?):

And finally Ady – you asked for last weeks Flagg and Monyash route:

Anyone fancy a quite early Sunday ride – got a certain footy game at 1pm – so away for 8.00 to 8.30 latest back for 1130? Please help otherwise I may have to revert to the bad old ways of an alcoholic breakie in Weatherspoons. UTO.

Well what a perfect day, nearly…just turned up Lodge Lane heading on a Crich run, when my chain came off – I tried to free wheel out of the way, but got hit from behind – buckled wheel, limped home – only done 3 miles!
Some recompense walking the Sprockers round Wyming and Mr Noel G tonight…

In reply to - Paul Gregory posted an update: Seven of us set off this morning. After getting to the top of Beeley Moor, we decided that despite the best intentions of going via Stanton in the Peak and Bakewell, we’d pay a visit to the southern branch of Nonnas for tea and cakes. We actually checked the day before and they said it was then rideable – however spoke to the local postie on Sat and he said that it had been like that for a couple of days! Was v pretty btw – everything in its way got a coating of ice crystals – even with crystal showers falling from the branches. Unfortunately it also included the ground which was really treacherous….we had a larf though and finished up in the Ladybower Inn for a couple of jars…
In reply to - Tony Meadows posted an update: Saturday morning ride….meet Nonnas, set off towards Baslow, over the tops to Crich,up Via Gellia, coffee in Bakewell and either home from there or if time allows Monsal,Bradwell,Hathersage and home…weather looks better than of late, although their is some rain forecast but nothing that’s gonna spoil a good ride…any takers??.. · View -

Noticed from Paul’s stats last week we only did 47 miles – but had 2 punctures and didn’t set off until 9.15am -perhaps a more prompt start would help…we need to be doing 50ish miles min?
