    Word of warning.

Just had my Zipp 202’s serviced, done 2000 dryish miles since new, just had £2k in ceramic bearings scrapped, yes that’s a pound a mile! Back on Zipp steels this season. And guess also they didn’t return the old ones… Something fishy going on? Hope not…

Only problem with electronic shifting is if the batteries go flat. (Happened to a pro recently in a race).

If Shimano were really smart they would build a battery charger into their hubs. (and let me do a long term test on it).

Nice one Paul – excellent day out, shows what there is ”out east” – but couldn’t we have done just 1 foot more climbing!

Despite the pain and the lack of caffeine great day out. Just got to do all the washing up for the next 6 months

Canny ride today gents, cheers to Keith for the scenic route and to Mick for keeping me company on that last grinder!
      ps. think I’m cursed:
1st ride = busted overshoes, 2nd ride = lost computer, 3rd (today) = downhill blowout + new tyre, tube & levers (smashed me shite ones in a wee strop!)
      Love it:-)

Good ride, despite heading east we did some climbing, nice route by keith and a good laugh too with punctures, wheels falling off and a bacon butty thrown in for good measure..

Shows what great riding there is ”out east” – will look to knock about 10 miles off that one though, probably ”lose” going north to Wentworth – and would return to Sheffield via Holmesfield and drop to Totley, rather than Meadowhead (not a lot in it).

Will also look for a 50 miler slightly further south to include Clumber etc – may need it again next Saturday by the sounds….until the next time.

Maybe something like this ? (not Clumber but Hardwick with an option of a cafe stop at Nonnas Chez Vegas ?): http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=348086

Paul – cracking route, I’ve no probs with that – getting out of Sheff is the issue – up hill generally to Renishaw, I did it once…reverse of last week’s return…

I know it’s a pig to get to Renishaw which everway you do it. By going Derbyshire lane and over to Coal Aston at least you avoid the double whammy of the climb out of Dronfield bottom.

I like the bit about averaging 40 hours sleep a week, sleeping in fields wearing woollens that needed wringing out and learning to walk again after the event. The best bit was even after the 75000 miles he rode on for another 25000 to set the new 500 day record, all on a bike weighing 35lbs.!.!.
